a better strategy: collage by douglas brent smith you may use this image for non-commercial purposes. please cite it as: collage: a better strategy  (c) 2016 douglas brent smith i made this collage in 1998, with additions in 2015 (the dots). the strategy in the title comes from the chess piece (but you knew that). save your doodles, you never know when they'll come in handy.

this time around

this time around ---------------------------------- when we could be reckless breaking hearts, missing signals keeping secrets meant for disclosure making shit up & when we had time to make so many mistakes we had to redefine the term we did and took more wrong turns than our wheels could handle enough to know, to remember, to learn not to do that again or jump into empy pools or climb over steel walls, but this pool: taken full, filled & overflowing this pool is safe and these walls did their job enough and can now rest because we both know this time around is better so much better than before and too precious to break (c) 2016 douglas brent smith

authentic and strong

authentic and strong ------------------------------------ you do not kiss anybody's ass or pretend you are anything that you're not fiercely independent you have your rules not guidelines not negotiables rules and you don't doll up to please man or woman or play with hearts for the sake of playing you don't care who cares if you care that's enough you don't try to be sexy instead you are strong certain, focused, driven, persistent and loyal and wow, that is powerfully awesomely sexy. cheese and crackers

i'm too old to keep this a secret and past pretending to be cool because i want to kiss you like our hair's on fire and touch you like we're both unbreakable and eat cheese and crackers washed down with wine as we laugh about crums in the sheets and furry pets with curious faces you don't need to love me forever but, you'd better love me fast.
