Second Thoughts - sketch by douglas brent smith Notes: What do you see the first time you look at this? What do you see if you think about it? Does it change if you think about it more? What do you think I was trying to draw? Sometimes an artist draws something and does not even see it until later. It can change in time. It's not much of a drawing, really, and I have second thoughts about posting it. But, there it is.

  Scratch - collage / mixed media by douglas brent smith, 1979 Notes: Even when I created this I knew that the actual smell part of the scratch and sniff would not last forever. It might have, but I haven't had the heart to test it. What if by testing it I use up the smell? What if by testing it my negative assumptions are affirmed? So, maybe it smells, and maybe it doesn't. What do you think? As simple as this is as a collage -- only one cutting pasted and a little drawing, I do still like it.
