Collage: A Question of Survival, 11 February 1980, douglas brent smith
Moisture Absorbing Grip - collage by douglas brent smith, 1980-81
Notes:
This collage, part of the Collageland series, is an echo of Deconstructing Kit, and that's me getting deconstructed. Pull yourself together, Doug.
That's a tennis racket in a glass of water -- a situation I do not recommend unless you want to get stuff wet and maybe break a perfectly fine glass. Unless that glass is made of plexiglass.
Stage Crew - sketch by douglas brent smith, 1980
From journal #16, on the cutting edge, 1980.
This appears to be a set design, possibly for The Great Brain Robbery, but I'm not certain since at the time I had been in rehearsal for and developing "en grade" at the Playwright's Center on Kinzie Street in Chicago. It did not get any farther than a staged reading, which was impacted by a massive snow storm so our audience was only four or five people.
This could also be just a random drawing. It is smeared from water damage caused by the fire on Elm Street at Dorinda's rented home in Lewisville, CO in 2008.

Notes:
This is part of a series of collages that were assembled on consecutive pages in Journal #15, eccentric nods, 1979 - 1980. While I do sometimes use "found" text in my collages, the text here is original, if incoherent.
I knew that the transparent tape would yellow with age and I was looking forward to it. There it is, aging as planned.
